Togenkyo (Peach Blossom Land)

2018 Beijing Expo (Yanqing, Beijing, China)

The main garden he created as an invited designer for the Beijing Expo. He named it “Togenkyo” (Peach Blossom Land), after a Chinese fable. A fisherman who lost his way while out fishing came upon a scene of unearthly beauty — with that scene in mind, he shaped a waterside with a waterwheel given an antique finish by hand, and walls of stacked stone, into a landscape of great depth.
