2026 Shijō, Kyoto

  • 23–29 September 2026 · Art salon “ESPACE KYOTO”, 6F · Solo exhibition “Tiki: Nameless Treasures”

The Kyoto store of Daimaru, which was founded in Fushimi, Kyoto, in 1717. The store has stood at Shijō-Takakura since 1912, and on its 6th floor are a fine art gallery and the art salon “ESPACE KYOTO”. The art salon holds a new exhibition each week, presenting mainly emerging artists.

On show were one-of-a-kind oil paintings of boys and girls holding treasure boxes, prints based on the original paintings, and sculptural works. The store introduced the exhibition with the words: “Children holding empty boxes are the constant motif of the work. What will these children go on to put in their boxes?”
