Hyatt Regency Kyoto

A hotel opened in 2006 in Higashiyama-Shichijō, surrounded by the Kyoto National Museum and Sanjūsangen-dō. Since the summer of 2025 it has hosted tiki’s work three times.

The first, in August 2025, was an exhibition and sale held with the hotel’s backing as part of its support for culture and artists. Paintings and sculptural works were arranged on the shelves by the windows and in glass display cases, and tiki was there in person, explaining the works to visitors. “Girl with a Treasure Box”, used for the sign at the entrance, shows a girl in kimono holding an empty treasure box, against a sky of falling cherry blossoms with a white egret and a five-storey pagoda: the cherry blossoms stand for new beginnings, the egret for freedom, and the pagoda for time built up over the years. On the occasion of this exhibition, art materials were given to local children’s homes.

In spring 2026, the year of the hotel’s 20th anniversary, a second solo exhibition was held. According to the announcement, on the theme of “new beginnings and hope for the future”, it was to show two-dimensional and sculptural works centred on a new cherry-blossom work, “Girl with an Empty Treasure Box” (2026), in colours evoking spring in Kyoto.

The third, in August 2026, was announced as a charity art event on the theme of “nurturing the next generation”. tiki’s two-dimensional and sculptural works, new pieces among them, were shown in the same space as pictures painted by children from children’s homes in Kyoto Prefecture and across Japan, and workshops for children to join together with their parents or guardians were also scheduled during the event.
