About This Work
The free play of the brush
A remarkably dynamic composition. The unrestrained momentum of the brush, spreading to the very edges of the sheet, is Hokusai at his truest; one seems to see him delighting in the free play of his brush. The small sheet becomes a field for the moving hand.
