About This Work
The Black Whirlwind of the Water Margin
Li Kui, a hero of the Chinese classic The Water Margin, nicknamed the Black Whirlwind. For his ferocity, his prodigious strength and his dark complexion he was also known as the Iron Ox. Hokusai fits that wildness into the small compass of an album leaf.
