About This Work
An eye for wildflowers
In flowers, and above all in wildflowers, the delicacy of Hokusai's affectionate eye stands out. With an extremely restrained palette, the free and supple line conveys the very life of the plants — a balance of economy and spirit found only in his brushwork.
